PM Netanyahu was quoted by several news sources as saying the judicial selection committee will be revamped, giving the Coalition control of appointment of judges, as the next part of the attempted regime change. “There’s little chance of compromise on the Judicial Selection Committee,” PM Netanyahu is reported to have said.

Times of Israel and other sources reporting that despite requests from PM Netanyahu, United Torah Judaism and Haredi parties are refusing to compromise on the yeshiva military exemption bill. On top of that, Haredi parties are also continuing to push for an override clause, to enable the Knesset to overrule forever any adverse court decision on the issue. Kan reports that UTJ are insisting on either the override clause, or that “Basic Law: Torah Study” be codified. The Haredim are threatening to leave the government if the bill is not passed at the beginning of the next Knesset session in October.In 2020, stipends were doled out to 150,000 yeshiva students, at a cost to taxpayers of NIS 1.2 billion ($326 million) annually, according to Globes.
